How do I upgrade or downgrade my account on LinkedIn?

Sometimes you want to advance your job search and that requires upgrading your LinkedIn account to the premium version. Other times you may not need such advanced features and you wish to downgrade it. Here's how to do both.

Jul 19, 2019

A LinkedIn account has many options. Users can choose to upgrade their regular account to a Premium subscription. A premium LinkedIn subscription includes applicant insights, the ability to see who has viewed your profile, on-demand learning, and monthly InMail capabilities that allow you to reach out the hiring managers or potential leads. If you have a LinkedIn account, you can upgrade to a premium account at any time.

Many people will keep a premium account when they are looking for a new job (as an individual) or looking to hire a new employee (as a manager) and will downgrade down to a regular LinkedIn account when they've completed their goal. This is because Premium accounts are a monthly subscription so unless they're covered by your business or company, it's not always beneficial to keep around permanently.

Keep reading for easy-to-follow instructions on how to upgrade or downgrade your LinkedIn account.
