What Do I Do If My British Airways Flight Is Delayed?

Even though British Airways tries to get you to your destination on time, it is not always possible. Delays and cancellations can happen when you least expect. If your flight has been canceled or delayed, you will be informed on time. Updating your contact details makes it possible to receive notification of the changes. If your British Airways flight has been delayed, you may rebook or seek compensation.

Delayed or Canceled Flights

If your British Airways flight was canceled or delayed, you might be eligible for a compensation of 600€. You might claim compensation if the delay was over three hours long. You may also request a compensation where you didn't receive at least 14 days' notice. British Airways also offers compensation if you were denied boarding as a result of overbooking.

You may also receive compensation if you booked with a subsidiary airline.

The best way to determine the amount of compensation that you may receive is by filling an online claim form. It helps you calculate the applicable compensation amount for your problems. On the form, enter your flight information and the reason for cancellation or delay.

If your flight was delayed for over two hours, you are entitled to receive free meals, email access, and telephone calls. If you were delayed for more than five hours, you might get a refund for your ticket cost. For overnight delays, you are eligible for hotel accommodation and transportation.

If you were booked on a different flight after yours was canceled, you don't get a refund.

Missed Connections/Denied Boarding

You are entitled to compensation if you are denied boarding or missed a connection with your British Airways flight. You may have missed your connection as a result of delays in the first flight. British Airlines may also deny your flight due to overbooking. Missed connections and denied boarding problems are not only an inconvenience but may also cost you a lot of money. You deserve compensation for both of them. If you are unsure of your eligibility, you may contact the customer service agents for help.

If you are eligible for compensation, pursue it as soon as possible. The EU Regulation 261/2004 states that air passengers should not have to tolerate such inconveniences. If you have been delayed for three or more hours, you can receive up to 600€ in compensation.
